Rebuilding something stronger
North Star Restoration began with the belief that even after life’s darkest moments, it is possible to rebuild something stronger.
Our founder, Matt Coyle, began learning construction at eight years old while working alongside his father, a general contractor. A year later, Matt’s family home burned down the night before Thanksgiving.
In the months that followed, Matt remembers getting off the school bus and looking to see how much of their home his father had rebuilt that day. The fire was a devastating loss, but the home that emerged was more beautiful than the one before it. That experience showed him that restoration is about more than replacing what was damaged. Done with care, rebuilding can bring light, hope, and a new beginning after an incredibly difficult time.
Years later, Matt found himself helping other families recover from fires, floods, and major insurance losses. Through his work in construction management and insurance restoration, he saw just how overwhelming the process could be. Families weren’t simply waiting for a building to be repaired. They were waiting for their homes, routines, and sense of security to be restored.
He also saw an opportunity to create a better restoration experience—one built around urgency, compassion, honest communication, disciplined project management, and exceptional craftsmanship.
